About Liberty Elementary School
-
Liberty Elementary School (LES) is recognized as a Title I Distinguished School. The caring, dedicated staff members focus on providing meaningful instruction for every child, every day. A well-developed curriculum and instruction plan is the foundation of the successful academic program. Staff members have high expectations for all students. The instructional plan is data driven and allows for differentiation for all students.
Liberty Elementary provides an accelerated Gifted & Talented (GT) program in 1st – 5th grade. Students are served by the GT certified classroom teacher as well as a resourced GT teacher. LES also provides an Early Intervention Program (EIP) for Kindergarten – 5th grade students. In addition, three Reading Recovery teachers provide one-on-one reading instruction for qualifying first grade students. The Reading Recovery teachers also assist with small group instruction in first and second grade. In addition to early intervention resources, LES provides quality special education programs for students qualifying for additional services. LES also receives services from an intervention team that provides one-on-one tutoring for qualifying students. LES is dedicated to ensuring that all students make academic gains throughout the school year.
In addition to quality instruction, LES provides thirty-one advanced technology classrooms. The students also benefit from two computer labs and several student computers in each classroom. A science lab is available for all hands-on learning experiences. Active learning and advanced technology classrooms increase motivation and participation to ensure that all students are actively engaged in the learning process.
LES is fortunate to have an excellent art, music and P.E. program. An engaging media program and a supportive counseling program are also valued at LES. The students participate in the Accelerated Reader (AR) program, the Young Authors’ Guild, Math Challenges, the LES Spelling BEE, Invention Convention, and many Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) sponsored events (Fall Festival, concession stand, Santa’s workshop, etc.). Many students participate in the 4th & 5th grade Honor’s Chorus, 5th grade BETA Club and 4-H Club, Art Club and Art Shows, Chess Club, and Media Club. Students also enjoy the Song & Dance Festival, Field Day, Kindergarten Circus, Career Caravan, Book Fair, Book Parade, Talent Show, Spacesuit Parade, Shoebox Parade, Wax Museum, Rock Eagle, and various exciting assemblies and field trips.
LES is proud of the quality programs that are provided for all students. However, the true heart of the school is the loving, dedicated staff members that work each day to encourage and engage the students. The staff members focus on the students’ social and emotional growth and provide assistance for families in need of special services or supplies. The staff’s outreach certainly goes beyond the academic needs of students.
Liberty Elementary School is very proud of the wonderful students and parents that work in partnership with our staff. LES values the support of the parents and community members. An amazing PTO and a vital School Council provides additional insight that helps guide the focus of the school program. This commitment to teamwork ensures that the educational program at LES will continue to challenge and enrich all students. The students, staff members, and parents are proud to belong to the Liberty family!
