Student of the Month

Every Month we highlight our Student of the Month from our District.This month we are honoring Eric Horner from Independence High School for his award winning paper on Eco System Diversity.Wish him congratulations on his science class's blog post here!
Students of the Month Criteria
Each month two students per grade level are selected as students of the month. The criteria for the selection are listed below.
- Academic Performance - including grades, class participation, completion of assignment
- Effort - works hard despite ability or works up to innate ability
- Character - displays "12 traits of Good Character" which includes adaptability, compassion, contemplation, honesty, initiative, loyalty, optimism, perseverance, respect, responsibility, and trustworthiness.
- Behavior - obeys rules, shows respect to peers and authority, well mannered; includes behavior both inside and outside of the classroom and has not received any fines.
- Social Relationship - displays leadership, willingness to help peers, shows respect to others.
- Uniform - wears the uniform correctly at all times and has not received any fines.
- Attendance - attends school regularly and arrives to school and classes on time.
- Each month the selected candidate's picture and biography will be posted in the school's award case, their name posted on the school's website, they will receive a commendation letter from the school's president, and Ritter Bucks to offset the purchasing lunch.
