The Lake Park School District Athletic Department is a member of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association and the Mid-Penn Conference. The Mid-Penn Conference is comprised of 34 member schools. Member schools are assigned to divisions based upon the PIAA enrollment classification. The Lake Park School District offers 25 Boys & Girls Varsity Sports, 14 Junior Varsity Sports and 1 Co-Ed sport. Middle School Students are offered 10 sports split between the boys and girls.
The Lake Park School District supports the philosophy that a quality interscholastic athletic program is vital to the positive social, physical, and educational development of students. The interscholastic athletic program enhances and supports the academic mission of the school district. We are committed to promoting the proper ideals of sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and fair play at all athletic contests. The athletic program shall be conducted in accordance with existing Board of Education policies, rules and regulations.
At all times, the athletic program is an extension of the classroom and is considered an educational activity. The interscholastic athletic program will have different emphasis at the various levels of competition. The Middle School level will be more developmental in nature. But there is a realization that the team is playing a competitive interscholastic sport where the object is to attempt to win the contest. As students progress to the 9th grade, junior varsity and varsity levels, the winning of contests will take on greater importance alongside participation and skill development.
Participation in athletics is a privilege, not a right. The athlete must earn this privilege through dedication, desire, and discipline. It is the responsibility of the Athletic Department to provide the student-athletes with the proper facilities, equipment, uniforms and coaches. The Athletic Department will provide competent coaches who will provide the instruction and guidance our athletes need to develop the mental and physical skills needed to compete successfully at the conference, district and state level. The athletic staff will stress self-discipline, teamwork, self-esteem, commitment, responsibility, sportsmanship and community service to all student athletes.
