The choral music curriculum provides each student with a comprehensive musical experience, exposing them to a wide range of music.  One of the chief aims is to create independent musicians.  We hope to provide students with a skill set that will enable them to participate in music as a life-long endeavor.  Independent musicians embody a number of important qualities.  Students should develop an appreciation of all types of music and in doing so  become a more global citizen, one who is capable of  not only a deeper understanding  of other cultures but also an ability to relate to them.  Independent musicians are responsible and informed consumers of music who make well thought out choices about the types of music they will consume.  The music classroom will provide for students a fun and enjoyable environment with opportunities to learn lessons of cooperation, accountability, responsibility, leadership and teamwork.  These independent musicians will leave Lake Park School District with a greater understanding and appreciation of the role music plays in their lives.  These students, should they choose, will have the tools and knowledge to create and enjoy music for the rest of their lives.
